This is one of my favorite open clusters! It was one of the first deep-sky objects that got me hooked on the stars when I started down this astro-path. Check it out in binoculars, small telescopes, or even naked eye. It’s amazing. I always picture a gingerbread man in the center of NGC869…
The double cluster, Caldwell 14, contains NGC 884 and NGC 869, and is located in Perseus. Both clusters are approximately 7500 light years from earth. (source: Wikipedia)
