Solar observing is fast becoming one of my favorite things to do, even with a simple white-light filter. Just the idea of looking at an ACTUAL STAR close up is so cool to me. That and knowing that the size of those sunspots is many times larger than the planet Earth.
I took this photo on 2012-05-13 with my DroidX Android phone afocally (through the eyepeice) of a 20mm lens on a Meade DS-90 telescope with an inexpensive white-light, black-film solar filter. It is curious to see the different details that show up when you desaturate the color and even invert the image.
