2013-01-15 Sunspot groups AR1654 and AR1656 in white light

I had VERY stable skies today! Very happy about this because of the massive sunspot group AR1654 that is currently showing itself on the sun’s surface. It’s been slowly breaking up, though, and is now considered AR1654 and AR1656.

Equipment used:

Zhumell Z10 10″ Dobsonian with Baader Astrosolar white-light solar filter
Canon T2i 550D DSLR with GSO 2″ coma corrector
Post-processed in Darktable for Linux and Photoshop

  1. Just wanted to congratulate you on a great blog…came across it in doing searches for other folks using their Skymaster 15x70s…I picked up a pair for Christmas and am having a blast…finally getting a tripod this week so hope to enjoy it even more…love to see what you are doing with the binos, sketches, and photos…inspiring! Keep up the great work!
