Mark C2012 K5 down in the books as the first comet I observed and imaged with my telescope. It was far more exciting than I expected it to be, especially since I was able to watch it move among the background stars over the course of about 80 minutes!

I didn’t image this comet with the intention of making an animation, but the speed at which it moved against the background of stars was begging for it. At the time of observation, C2012 K5 was exiting the constellation Auriga and entering Taurus.

Equipment used
Zhumell Z10 10″ Dobsonian telescope on DIY EQ platform
Canon T2i 550D DSLR, unmodified
GSO 2″ coma corrector
BackyardEOS capture software
